Art Deco Clock And Radio
Stepped timber forms, metal detail and the character of a physical object.
THE PROJECT
This clock and radio design brings an Art Deco influence into an interior product. The finished object combines a timber enclosure, stepped side profiles, a clock face, metal mesh panels and front controls.
01 / THE PROCESS
Build character through proportion
The tall central body and stepped side forms give the object its architectural outline. The clock face and metal panels sit within that timber frame, so the arrangement of the functional elements also shapes the front elevation.
The photographs show how rounded edges, grain and changes in depth affect the object from different angles.
02 / THE PROCESS
Carry the detail around the object
Side and rear views bring the construction and finishing work into view. The rear engraving and the separate metal detail give the project a more personal character.
The physical object complements the CAD-led projects elsewhere in the portfolio, showing an interest in materials, making and the details people see at close range.
