THE PROJECT

This product design study explores a light for swimming after dark. I considered the use context alongside patents and relevant standards, then developed the enclosure and internal arrangement through CAD and product visualisation.

01 / THE PROCESS

Connect the use with the form

The concept combines a compact enclosure with a reflective top, a visible control and a strap attachment. The overall form brings the way the light is carried and operated into the same design study.

The renders communicate the proposed construction and appearance. The project remains a concept study; water resistance and visibility performance would need physical validation.

02 / THE PROCESS

Work through the assembly

An exploded view separates the housing, light and circuit assembly, fixings and top components. It makes the packaging decisions easier to examine than a closed product view.

The lip-and-groove interface and strap arrangement are part of the proposed enclosure design. Working at this component level connects the product form with the detail needed for further development.

OUTCOME

The work, brought together.

A product concept communicated through a developed CAD assembly and renders, with further testing needed to establish its performance in use.
